What is the significance of dark matter, in other words, what would it help explain for us and why?


Replies:
There seems to be more mass in the universe than is visible. Dark matter fills this gap. The presence of extra mass is deduced by observing veloci- ties of stars in galaxies, and galaxies in clusters of galaxies.
