Question:
What is the name of the star that is farthest away from Earth and what is
the distance?
Replies:
I do not know about the star but the farthest known object is believed to be
at a distance of about 10 billion light years. It is a quasar, or more
appropriately a quasi stellar source. I do not think it has any common
name.

As far as we can tell, there are stars BEYOND the edge of the universe that
we can currently see, which will become visible in the future. (because
light takes so long to get from them to us). Therefore, if there IS a
"farthest star", nobody can possibly know about it yet. But since there are
10^20 or more stars within the visible universe, picking out which one is
farthest even of the ones we can now see would be pretty close to impossi-
ble.
