When a meteorite hits the Moon, I notice that the crater is there, but what
happens to the meteorite? The same is true in Arizona, where there is a big
crater. What happened to that meteorite?

The meteorite breaks up into little pieces; some of it may also vaporize.
Many pieces of the one responsible for the Arizona crater have been found.
