Text:       What causes the earth to have a magnetosphere?

Text:        The principle cause is the fact that the earth has a magnetic 
field source in its core.  The magnetosphere is the collection of charged 
particles that are responding to the magnetic field that arises from the 
currents in the core of the earth.
