The CRC (Handbook of Chemistry & Physics) which is a 
great resource has the following listing for Iron carbonate crystalline form, 
properties and index of refraction gray, trig, 1.875, 1.633 density 3.8.  This 
info is from an old CRC 55th ed 1974-5 it was listed in the Physical constants 
of inorganic compounds section.  This reference book should be in most libs 
and has a wealth of information.  p.s. it does not melt, it decomposes.  
Iron(II) Carbonate or siderite FeCO3  MW 115.85gm/mol.
