Question:
What is the status on the satellite "Galileo" and was not there a
satellite that was going to explore the sun's magnetosphere outside the
ecliptic? What is the status on that?
Replies:
Galileo is working fine except for the deployment of the main
telemetry dish antenna: telemetry is being performed at a much slower rate by
a smaller antenna. And yes, there is a solar polar mission, but I do not
recall its name. For questions like these check NASA's BBS, spacelink, which
you can get to from newton by selecting teaching topics from the main menu.

The spacecraft that was sent to explore the sun's polar region
was named Ulysses.
