Question:
Hello, I would like to attract native birds to my neighborhood. I would like to know if facing a bird house in a particular direction, say north vs south, has any influence upon which bird species will inhabit a bird house. Other people have told me the shape of a bird house has more influence. Is there any truth to my suspicion.

Replies:
Design and size of entrance are important, and placement of the right box in the right habitat depending on what species you want to attract. This site has detailed information from a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service pamphlet.
