Question:
On a recent outing I saw a white or albino deer. How
rare is this?
Replies:
I can't tell you how often albinos appear, but they are not uncommon. It is
relatively rare for a large albino animal to survive for very long, because
they are so visible they are especially vulnerable to predators. Partial
albinos, which retain some pigmentation, are more common than full albinos.

There are plaqces that harbor white deer that are not albino. Argonne National
Laborartory has a population of European deer brought over prior to WWII that is
flourishing. These deer are not albino.
