Question:
I am in the process of writing a science-fiction novel centered
around a galactic war. I am researching information on the theoretical
possibilities of creating antimatter for power. Where can I look for
information on this subject. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Replies:
Antiparticles are regularly created at particle accelerators - for
example Fermilab produces a lot of antiprotons which it collides with regular
protons. But combining antiparticles to produce anti-atoms,
or storing them for long periods of time are separate problems.
You may be able to find something in the library on magnetic
storage of antimatter, though I am afraid I do not have a reference.
Robert Forward has probably written something on it, though I
do not think he is terribly trustworthy.
