Question - I am teaching an applied geometry class, and would like
to know any projects or hands-on examples and applications of angles
formed from intersecting lines. In other words, when could my students
use this information other than in my classroom?
----------------------
Lisa,
Ask the students if they can figure out a way to divide a rectangular piece
of cake into two pieces of exactly the same size without using any kind of
measuring instrument. Make the answer a little less obvious by describing
the piece of cake as a long, skinny rectangle.
The answer: Cut the piece diagonally. You can then discuss the angles and
congruency of the pieces.
