If we have microscope with resolving power .3um and 10x and 100x objective and ocular lens, will we be able to resolve two point .3un, 3um, 30nm, 3000A apart Replies: Resolution is the ability to tell two points apart as separate points. If the resolving power of your lens is 2um that means two points that are 2um apart can be seen as separate points. If they are closer together than that, they will blend together into one point. The magnification is something different-the ability to make an object larger. If the resolving power of a microscope is poor, it will just magnify a blurry object. I don't believe they are linked in any way. They are separate properties. Van Hoeck Resolution, resolving power, and limit of resolution all mean the same thing. They refer to the ability of a microscope to distinguish between two objects. In your case, your microscope will be able to distinguish two points that are at least 0.3 um (300 nm) apart.
