Hair Dye

Question - What effect does hair dye have on hair? Does it weaken
it? Can you give me any useful sites to go to so i can get some detailed
information about it?
-------------------------
Ciara,

My response to your question will likely disappoint you. Though hairdressers
and cosmetics vendors would like you to believe otherwise, in general the
chemicals used to dye hair are damaging to the structural integrity of the
hair
shaft. Information you may collect on this matter from those with a vested
interest will probably tell you that dying hair is a harmless process. You
would probably get closer to the truth if you were to pose your question to a
reputable dermatologist.

Hair dye may add artificial pigment by a process of oxidation, or it remove
natural pigment , called reduction, from the hair. When professional
hairdresser, uses this process, the damage is very minimum, almost nothing.
When the hair is damaged above 30%, the damage becomes more notesible. More
chemical, more damage.
