Question:
Why are the emissions of the volcano (Mt. Erabus) not
considered when determining the cause of the ozone hole at the south pole?
Replies:
Gary,
The chemicals causing the ozone depletion over Antarctica are man-made
CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons), which are not produced naturally by nature in
any form (including volcanoes). That is why the emissions from
Mt. Erabus are not considered.
