Common Chemicals: Reference
Question:
I am an elementary school teacher in a school with no money and no supplies
with which to conduct chemistry labs. Is there a list that cross-references
common substances found in the grocery story with chemical that can be
used in labs? example: NaCl = table salt. I have very little background
in chemistry, so I need all the help I can get. Keep it simple. Thanks.

Answer:
Find a book called MAGIC WITH CHEMISTRY by Edward Palder,
New York, 1966 check all your local USED book stores
if you find it, read the descriptions CAREFULLY: some of the
experiments may be dangerous!
The subtitle is: mystery experiments and demonstrations
for science clubs, classes, and entertainment programs.
Also, you can buy many chemicals at your local chemical
supply store for very reasonable prices. If you don't have
a local chemical supply store, you can mail order.
Hope this helps
