Noble Metals
Question: I was reading an article that mentioned Noble Metals. I know
what a Noble Gas is, but I have never heard of a Noble Metal. What are they?

Answer: The noble metals are Cu, Ag, Au, Pt, Pd, sometimes Ir. Cu, Au,
and Ag are also referred to as the coinage metals. They are noble because
they are somewhat resistant to oxidation (though Ag isn't that great). This
all coming from the mouth of an inorganic chemist (not myself).
