HFC-134

Question:
Is the formula HFC-134 the chemical name Halofluorocarbon 134? Is it a
refrigerant or DuPont's Freon (TM)
------------------------------------------------
Hi Dorothy,

The H in HFC stands for hydro....hydro fluoro carbon 134.
It is considered to be a refrigerant.
And a chemist might refer to it as : 1,1,2,2 - tetrafluoroethane

HFC-134a name: 1,1,1,2 tetrafluoroethane
                         formula: CF3--CFH2
                         CAS NO.: 811-97-2
                         mol. wt.: 102.0

Made by DuPont. Claims to be a replacement for DuPont's Freon (TM) 12 in refrigerants,
polymer blowing agents, and aerosols with no ozone depletion potential,
because it contains no chlorine. I cannosay whether the latter claim is
accurate. You can find out everything you could possibly want to know about
