Question:
Answer needed quickly...how long does our liver need to process one ounce of hard liquor? ...one ounce of beer? ...one ounce of wine? These questions came out of a class discussion. We would appreciate an answer before the end of this month, if possible.


Replies:
About 1/2 an ounce (corresponding to half a beer, glass of wine, or hard drink made from one shot of 80 proof liquor) can be metabolized per hour. This is an average, different people have different metabolic rates, and alcoholics process much faster...
